Wintertime Works Well for an Infrared Thermal Imaging Inspection

Home Inspections
infrared thermal imaging

Because late fall and winter bring little to no humidity into a home, this is the perfect time to complete an infrared thermal imaging inspection.

This type of imaging, commonly called thermography, uses a thermal camera to measure temperature fluctuations within your home. The electromagnetic spectrum is not visible to the naked eye. It is ideal for troubleshooting a variety of home issues, including:

• Hidden plumbing leaks in walls, ceilings, and floors
• Energy losses due to missing insulation or broken window seals
• Hot electrical circuits and
• Wet areas under flooring

What does an Inspection Entail?

An infrared camera will scan the area to detect and record heat sources. Areas of concern are identified through thermal anomalies and labeled right away, photo by photo.

All images are saved digitally for later analysis. Finally, a report is given to you, the homeowner or prospective buyer, with high-resolution photos depicting what the inspector found and the location of the problem or problems.

Why is this Important?

By identifying these problems early, you can save hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars on in-home repairs.

Animal waste was found under the carpeting in a finished basement.
